The Fender Twin series has always been famous for it’s incredible clean, low-distortion tone. The Red Twin, of course, had to be different. Gone is the old-school “Bright” switch. Here we have push-pull knobs for treble boost and mid-range cut. Is this the same as a brightness switch? No. There is more distortion involved. Overall channel one is cleaner but somewhat quieter than channel two. It is where The Twin’s Fender roots show – the famous spank is there. But this is not the same channel one as in a ’65 blackface or a ’68 silverface. It’s moodier – it’s seen more hard times.
